TITLE "Are Footballers Heading For Trouble"

NARRATION DIALOUGE:

 - "The safety of sports has been a topic of debate across the world for an extended period of time, however no discussion of global sports can start without football. dubbed "The beautiful game" football can be traced back as far as 2500 years ago where many forms of the sport where played historically."

- "Over time football has evolved into the sport as we know it now and as it has become more contemporary rules have been put in place to ensure the safety of players."

- "The main areas of discussion will be studies done by universities and scientists investigating the possible neurodegenerative diseases it could cause."

- "The FA is the safety regulator for football here in England and are accustomed to the idea of heading being potentially dangerous and have produced the following guidance."

CUT to youth guidance heading chart:

- "As you can see for under 7's to 11's it is stated that heading should not be introduced as at that age range  football should be purely for enjoyment and learning."

- "under 12's and 13's are advised to limit the amount of heading they do as it is seen as low priority, however it further states later on that this is only guidance therefore if the coach feels it is necessary they can head the ball more frequently."

- "Finally for under 14's to 18's the advice ranges from limiting the amount of repetitions during training for the younger age range however the older side who are under 18's should begin to use a variety of heading situations similar to game scenarios"

- "Here's an interview with local student and football enthusiast Dylan Swain on his experiences within the game."

TITLE: "Conclusion"

"In conclusion heading will always be an integral part of the beautiful game of football, however through my research I have learnt it is important that we insure balance between the traditions and passion we have for the sport with the health and safety of the players. It is clear that impacts can be devastating and the outcome of dementia doesn't seem to be a rare occurrence however I feel as so this is less of a sign to leave our sport behind but more to inspire to work towards safer practises and more research so we leave a better game for future generations."

Script Evaluation:

The purpose of my script was to offer guidelines for myself and others involved in the production of my documentary, this meant we could record both audio and visual content more efficiently. Not only did my script help during production but also in post production as I could use it to mark points in which I wanted to add things like music or voice overs. I think my script has stuck with the points I highlighted in my treatment, this is because I involved all the people I said I would, I covered the correct points and managed to collect peoples opinions whilst also drawing my own conclusions, I also used all of the filming locations, props and equipment stated in my treatment. I believe my script and documentary do suit my target audience of 15-35 year olds who play football, this is evident as I decided to share my documentary and the positive feedback I gained was all from people who fell into the categories my target audience states, it furthermore suits my target audience by being educational but still having fun and interesting elements. My script/documentary is definitely formal purely based off of the content it covers which is quite serious delicate topics which are therefore discussed in a serious manor, another reason for my script/documentary being formal is that it includes scientific research and interviews that all have the same aim of drawing conclusions and opinions which all need to be performed formally and professionally for the most accurate results.

Target Audience Profile

Target Audience:

The Target audience for my documentary would be football players of all age ranges, however I think it would be better suited to older players (15+) since they are the demographic who are most likely going to be heading the ball the most often. I think my documentary targets more men than women just because of the simple fact that football is generally a more male dominated sport however this is not ruling out women as an audience at all as women's football is becoming increasingly more popular as time goes on. The formal nature of my documentary and the language used in my script makes it better suited to more mature people no matter if they play sports or not, this is because people take interest into topics like mine solely out of curiosity and wanting to learn. In general my target audience is very broad based off of many different variables however if I had to narrow it down I would say my main target audience is 15 - 35 year old males and females who have a particular interest in football or who play it.

Story Board

Treatment

Working title - 'Are footballers heading for trouble'

Genre - Documentary

Synopsis -  The documentary will be covering the issues involving footballers heading the ball and the long term impacts it has. the main areas of discussion will be studies done by universities and scientists etc., may involve interviews with people who watch or play football to get multiple opinions, footage of matches and the possible neurodegenerative diseases it can and does cause such as dementia. In this instance it will be regarding the long term causes of heading a football, although this is a recognized issue in the football world I don't believe enough light is brought onto the subject, therefore i aim to further endeavour into the issue and hopefully encompass a conclusion in my documentary by taking the opinions from others and looking into proper medical research.

Cast required -( Myself, Liam, Dylan...) I have a few people i can feature, a lot with previous acting experience in front of a camera as well as people who don't have the experience but will be helpful in the documentary for opinions and 'football talk'

Crew required - I will do all the primary filming and camera work however may need someone to help with audio. I think I will manage most other jobs on my own like editing and other post production.

Locations - Multiple different locations will be used however lots of football pitches and possibly things such as stadiums to feature as the visual content needs to be fitting with the theme, other shorter less frequent locations for establishing shots etc, these can be taken around my local area of countryside views and nature.

Props -  I don't think too many props and costumes will be needed, just a football and kit, nets... (more will be added) however most are already provided at the filming location

Equipment - camera, device for audio, tripod, editing software's, computer
